I took those photos going to la cumrecita, it’s a 1hour and half far away from villa general belgrano, the landscape is wonderful, I saw rivers, mountains, farms,etc!

my pictures at the cemetery and sorroundings

nowadays recoleta is the most visited place in Buenos Aires, I am sure that you probably seen! but I want to write a bit the history and to axplain the photos I’ve taken.

the original name is the recoletos, they were a rich french family and then the name has changed for ” Recoleta”.

the cemetery was built in 1822, governor Martin Rodrigez and his minister Rivadavia were who ordered the construction of this cemetery called ” northern cemetery” over the fields of the Recoleta fathers, to Mr.prosper Catelin a french engineer.

in 1863, the bishop of Buenos Aires retired his ”blessed” condition after president Mitre ordered the burial of a well-known mason, blessing that has not and will not be recovered.

during 1888, the major of Buenos Aires, Torcuato de Alvear, reconstructed the deteriorated cemetery, with the help of architect Busschiazzo, to its present extension.

in 1946 it was declared National Monument and in 1949 changed its former name to Recoleta as known nowadays.

if you go you will see many of masonic scripts and symbols, artists, presidents, soldiers,and one of the famous woman in the world ” Evita”.

also you can hear some myths about the ”lady in white” I never seen her ( fortunately lol) or some people says you can hear ruffina cambaceres walking around the cemetery, she is called the woma who died twice.

over the cemetery, there are many shops, restaurants, cafes, bookshops, hard rock cafe and crossing the square you can visit the museo de bellas artes.
